How to print your vision board as a poster
A printed board works differently from one on a screen: it’s there every time you walk past. Here’s how to print one that looks sharp, at home or from a print shop.
Pick the size before you start
The board’s shape decides its print sizes, so choose it first, in the Board sheet under Format:
| Shape | Sizes | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 3:4 | 18 × 24 in | A classic poster |
| 2:3 | 24 × 36 in | A large poster |
| 4:5 | 8 × 10 in, 16 × 20 in | A framed print |
| A series | A4, A3, A2 | Frames in A sizes |
| Letter | 8.5 × 11 in | A home printer |
Every shape also comes in landscape, and ready-made frames exist for all of these sizes.
Make sure the photos print sharp
A print needs more pixels than a screen. As a rule of thumb, a photo looks sharp at about 150 pixels per inch or more at the size it’s printed. A 12-megapixel iPhone photo (4032 × 3024 pixels) can fill about 20 × 27 inches at that density; a photo saved from a message or a website is often far smaller.
Pin & Print checks this for you. In Share and print › Poster it tells you if a photo will print soft at the size you chose, and how large the board can go with every photo sharp. If one photo is soft, make it smaller on the board, use a larger copy of it, or choose a smaller size.
Order a poster from a print shop
- Open the board, tap Share and print and choose Poster.
- Pick the size, then the file: PDF, which most print shops prefer, or JPEG, for services that only take images.
- Save it to Files or share it, then upload it to a local print shop or an online poster service. Matte or satin paper avoids glare behind glass.
If the shop asks for bleed, turn on ⅛ in of bleed in the Board sheet under Format before you export. Poster files are part of Pin & Print’s one-time unlock; the 8 × 10 in size is free.
Print at home
- One page: Share and print › Print at home, choose Letter or A4, then print with AirPrint, or save the page as a PDF from the print screen. This is free.
- A big poster on several sheets: in Print at home, choose the poster across several pages. Each page has cut lines and a label (A1, A2, B1…), so you trim along the lines and tape the pages together from the back. This is part of the unlock.
Make a poster from one photo
Have a single photo you’d like on the wall? Tap New board › Print a photo as a poster. Pin & Print picks the nearest poster shape, crops around the subject and suggests the largest size that still prints sharp.
