How to make a vision board on your iPhone
A vision board is a collage of pictures and words for what you want from the year ahead. On an iPhone you can make one from your own photos in an evening, then keep it where you’ll see it every day.
Before you start: what to put on it
- Pick three to five areas of your life: home, work, health, people, travel, learning, money. You don’t need all of them.
- Choose photos that show how it should feel, not only the thing itself: the light in a room you want, a place you want to see, a morning with the people you love.
- Use your own photos where you can. They mean more, and they’re yours to print.
- Add a few words: one word for the year, a short line, or a name for each area. Fewer words read better from across a room.
- Six to twelve pictures is plenty. Leave some paper showing; a crowded board is hard to read.
Make it in Pin & Print, step by step
- Start a board. Tap New board and pick one of the 2027 vision board templates, or a blank board. Templates come with frames waiting for your photos.
- Choose its shape. In the Board sheet, under Format, pick the shape you’ll use most: Wallpaper for the Lock Screen, a poster shape such as 3:4 (18 × 24 in) or 2:3 (24 × 36 in) for printing, or Letter or A4 for a home printer, in portrait or landscape. You can change it later and the board fits itself to the new shape.
- Add your photos. Tap Photos to choose from your library (Pin & Print only sees the photos you pick), Files for images saved there, or Paste. On a template, tap an empty frame to fill it.
- Lay it out. Drag, pinch and rotate. Guides appear when an edge or a centre lines up with another item, and the angle shows while you turn a photo, so you can keep things straight or tilt them on purpose. Not sure where to start? In the Board sheet, under Design, Arrange for me offers three finished layouts of your photos and words.
- Style the photos. Style gives each photo a look: an instant-photo frame with a caption, tape, a pin or a soft shadow. Cut out the subject lifts a person or an object out of its background, with a sticker edge.
- Add words. Tap Text. New text is set in Fraunces, and there are 32 typefaces to choose from.
- Finish with colour. Pick colours from your own photos with the eyedropper for the paper, the words and the stickers. Or use Make it cohesive, in the Board sheet under Design, to bring every photo towards one palette.
The board saves after every change, so there’s no Save button to forget.
Keep it in sight
A vision board works when you see it often. Pin & Print gives you three places for it:
- Your Lock Screen: Share and print › Wallpaper makes a wallpaper fitted around the clock. See how to put your vision board on your Lock Screen.
- Your Home Screen: small, medium and large widgets rotate through close-ups of your board, your photos or your words.
- Your wall: print it at home, or as a poster from a print shop. See how to print your vision board as a poster.
Tips
- Look at it on purpose. Once a month, open the board and swap a photo that no longer fits.
- A board in the Wallpaper shape suits the Lock Screen best; a poster shape suits the wall.
- Keep your words short enough to read at a glance on the Lock Screen: three to six words.
